What made my day today? Pizza, simply pizza (and maybe a cheeky beer)
It may be cliche, but after a week of monotonous journeys to & from work and the constant daily routine. Friday couldn't come soon enough.
But where to go, what to do to make Saturday & Sunday stand out from the others.
My parents live on the Isle of Wight, we could pop down there, I thought.
My Friday was filled with thoughts and memories of the island and the anticipation of more to come.
At 4.08pm, having spent the majority of the day reminiscing about Yarmouth Square and the quaintness of the place I call home, I thought I should sow the seeds of a possible weekend rendezvous. To give fair warning of our imminent arrival and allow the preparation ceremony to begin.
This ceremony involves Ma running around preparing the royal banquette, straightening and dusting her figurines and placing the guest towels neatly on the freshly made guest beds. Dave would also be helping. Dave's 'help' would be overstocking the fridge with many different beers wines and mixers as possible which will inevitably fall out as soon as the first bottle of beer is taken in a alcoholic homage to the classic game Ker Plunk and raising his feet whilst Ma hoovered.
I dropped my Mum a quick text reading *Any plans for the weekend Ma?* Then I got back to work.
I hadn't heard anything from my birth-giver and my excitement was growing bigger as the remaining time at work grew smaller.
With 21 minutes left of the working week and a trip to the multi award winning holiday destination playing on my mind, my phone rang. It was Ma.
'Sorry love, I'm working all weekend'.
Oh, i said, not to worry, another time then.
I felt my bottom lip quiver and my shoulders slump.
The cloud still surrounded me as my wife picked me up from work.
Another cliche is something about the way to a mans heart is through his stomach. Again true!
My wife knew this and suggested a fast food take away option for a pick-me-up.
After much deliberating and confabulation we settle for...
Pizza simply pizza (and a cheeky beer)
